CybPhys Final conference in Riga April 2023

The results of the CybPhys project were presented to all interested parties on April 28 at 10.00 at the conference at RTU.

Despite first Covid-19 and then Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, within three and a half years the project developed and approved a bachelor’s and master’s study program in modelling cyber-physical systems according to the needs of the labour market, developed a platform where laboratory work resources are available online for partners, organized training for academic staff both in person and remotely, as well as implemented Ukrainian student mobility activities in European Union member states. At the same time, it was also possible to improve the laboratory equipment of Ukrainian universities and purchase computer equipment.

The conference was held in a hybrid format – at RTU Faculty of Electrical and Environmental Engineering and online. Representatives of participating Ukrainian universities from Harkiv and Kryvyj Rih arrived in Riga as well as representatives of KU Leuven University and the University of Cyprus.

Representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the State Education Development Agency and project stakeholders: the company “ELCARS” LLC, Avtodom Kharkiv LLC Pro-Mobility, State Polytechnical College, Chernihiv Polytechnic University, the Ukrainian students, who were involved in the project activities, and others participated in the conference remotely.

Meeting in Bruges April 2023

The members of the CybPhys met together in Bruges on April 12-14th, one month before to completion of the project, to discuss the final activities and last deliverables of the project.

The meeting was held in a hybrid format – at KU Leuven, Spoorwegstraat 12, and online. Representatives of participating Ukrainian universities from Harkiv, Chernihiv and Kryvyj Rih arrived in Bruges as well as representatives of RTU and the University of Cyprus. The other interested persons participated in the meeting remotely.

MC and WS meeting March 16-18th 2023

A workshop devoted to Masterclass on the topics of the courses, which the partners developed in CybPhys, was held in RTU. Partners from Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Cyprus and Bruges arrived to Riga. The colleagues from Kryvyj Rih participated in the meeting on-line. The next important topic of the meeting was a Workshop devoted to Double Diploma between RTU and KhNAHU.

CybPhys workshop was supported by the Rector of RTU and the Vice-Rector of CPNU, who introduced participants of the workshop to the achievements of RTU and CPNU and opportunities for the future cooperation.

The workshop was supported by representatives from Foreign Students Foundation and International Projects Unit of RTU. In addition, our colleague from Kaunas University of Technology, Rasa Bruzgiene, contributed to the workshop as a co-author of one of the text books created during the project.

Today, in November 25th, all Ukrainian and European partners of the CybPhys project in a presence of the Project Officer from EACEA discussed the progress of the project. We are very thankful to our colleagues from CPNU, KhNAHU and KNU, which despite the warship continue their contribution to the CybPhys implementation!

Project Management Meeting and Workshop on the ERASMUS+ Project CybPhys at the KIOS Research and Innovation Center

Between September 19th and 21st of 2022, a Project Management Meeting and a workshop on the development and modernization of curricula in the field of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) was held at the KIOS Research and Innovation Center.  Consortium members paid particular attention to the overall project progress; the reform and modernization of curricula in Cyber-Physical Systems in Ukrainian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs); the development and deployment of a Sharing Modelling and Simulation Platform to facilitate virtual learning and virtual laboratory work in the field; and the introduction of new methodologies for implementing distance and virtual laboratory work.

The KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence contributes to the project by leading all activities related to Quality Assurance and by offering two short training events, one for academic faculty and one for Ukrainian students in the three participating Ukrainian Higher Education Institutions.

The first training event was in September of 2021, and it focused on novel educational and research tools for critical infrastructure modelling, monitoring and control, as well as on demonstrations on smart cities, intelligent water network monitoring and control, intelligent transportation and smart grids, using the KIOS CoE testbed facilities.

The second training school, which is planned between January 30th  – February 10th, 2023, will be designed for the needs of Ukrainian students in the field, offering them a chance to explore and experiment, under KIOS CoE researchers’ supervision, with this type of infrastructure.

IEEE conference for the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. 2022 IEEE Energycon was held in Riga, welcoming scientists, professional engineers, and engineering students to present their work, publish their results, exchange ideas, and network for future scientific and industrial collaborations.
